A few days ago, Gavin was in the master bedroom with me when he closed the door and locked it! I thought to myself, "Wow, I'm glad I was in the bedroom with him when he figured out how to do that!". You can see where this is going........
Yesterday, Gavin and Emery were playing in their bedroom and as usual, they closed the door when I walked out. I sound like a broken record every day saying "leave the door open" and coming back to open the door. Well, this time, the door was locked and both of them were inside! Thankfully, the lock was pretty easy to pick and the toddlers were freed. :-)
If I ever quickly run outside while they are in the house, I ALWAYS make sure that at least two doors are unlocked. I noticed a few weeks ago that Gavin could reach and turn the deadbolt locks. I thought I was being a little "over the top" and paranoid, but now I'm not so sure! I'm going to be locked out of my own house!
EDITED TO ADD: I have been locked out of their room 3 times since I typed this post. I am now walking around with a toothpick in my pocket (to pick the lock). On the agenda for the weekend: turn the doorknob around backwards!

The things you have to worry about with toddlers! I'm glad that none of our bedrooms have locks on the doors.
Hmmm I wondered how my bathroom door got locked. I bet one of my sneaky toddler did it. I didn't even think about that. Just when I think I am ahead of their game.
