The Great Outdoors

One of the things that Pete and I often discussed when I was pregnant is whether our kids would be "outdoor people". Pete and I love the outdoors and so we wondered if the babies would follow in our footsteps or if they might be born "indoor people". This is basically the nature vs. nurture question I guess (but literally dealing with NATURE). We would have conversations like "What if one likes the outdoors and the other one doesn't? Do we make the indoor lover join us outside and hope that they learn to love it? Would this make them hate it more? Will we be able to go on fun camping trips and all enjoy it?". These are the stupid questions that you ask when you actually have time to worry about that stuff. :-)

Well, I still don't have the nature vs. nurture question answered, but I do know that our kids LOVE the great outdoors! The weather was awesome today. We were wearing shorts, applying sunscreen, eating popsicles, and playing in the dirt. We spent ALL DAY outside and the kids loved it......And when THEY have a good day, I have a good day! There was very little fussing. Just some really dirty kids!

We had the same worries about our boys and they could not love being outside more.

And thanks for the post yesterday. There are quite a few things I can not say on my blog so as not to offend people. But I'm right there with you... Jon and I have denied ourselves a lot of luxuries over the years bc we could not afford it. Our dining room sat empty for almost two years! We don't carry debt and we are preparing for our future... and we're the ones who will end up paying more. It just plain SUCKS!

Tell Pete to watch out. Gavin will be borrowing his jack prety soon and looking under the Vette.
