Merry Christmas to Everyone!

A 1 year old???

How did I end up with two 3 year olds and a 1 year old?  Holy cow, time is flying by! 

Ethan’s birthday was on December 14th and we celebrated with a quiet party at home.  Well…… quiet until the older kids threw complete tantrums when we insisted that they let Ethan play with HIS new toys. 

I posted that last picture to show how many wrinkles these kids have given me!  Haha

Our quiet, easy going kid has turn into a little mess!  Literally, and figuratively!  He’s got a strong set of opinions, wants to do everything that his older brother and sister are doing, and never sits still.  He’s not walking yet, but can already climb onto the couch and is a lightening fast crawler!  He cracks us up with all of his expressions!  He’s mischievous and strong willed but he usually has a smile on his face.  He’s a little comedian and cracks himself up on a regular basis.

Blog, what blog?

Obviously, this blog has fallen to the bottom of the list lately!  I’m hoping to do better, but free time has been almost non-existent in the last few weeks.

What have we been doing??  Well, mostly we’ve been SICK!  We can’t seem to get healthy around here!  In between sickness, we’ve had some fun outings that I hope to write about soon.  Gavin and Emery were even sick on Halloween!  Luckily, they got to wear their costumes (and got plenty of candy) at Halloween activities the week before.

Our schedule shows no signs of slowing down.  I’ve joined a gym and have signed up to run a 5k  the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  We’ve had lots of relatives in town and holiday parties are already filling up the calendar!  Now, if we can all just stay healthy!

Fort Worth Zoo

We’ve been SO sick around here.  3 rounds of 3 different illnesses.  I’m still trying to get rid of the last round.  Pete even had to take off of work on Monday because I was in bed all day!  

Before round #2 (Emery- strep throat), we were able to visit the Fort Worth Zoo on a Friday with Vandaddy and Mimi.  The new MOLA exhibit (Museum of Living Art) was awesome!

 

We got to ride the carousel!  Usually not an option because we don’t have enough adults.  Gavin and Emery both loved it!

 

And of course, we had to spend some time being silly on the stagecoach in the Texas section.  What you can’t see is Vandaddy (my dad) rocking the stagecoach so hard that I thought we’d be thrown out of the park!  After all these years, he still manages to embarrass me.  Way to go Dad.  :-)

 

We love the zoo!  Our season passes have been renewed, so we’ll be back often!

Cars

I know I’ve said (asked) this before, but…….

What is the deal with boys and their cars?!?

It amazes me how early they become obsessed!  Good thing he has a big brother with a bazillion cars to keep him entertained!

Picture Day

Yesterday was Picture Day at preschool, so I thought I’d snap a picture before we left the house.  They are looking and acting so grown up lately!

I realized what an underachiever I was when we got to school and little girls were walking in wearing tutus with huge bows in their hair.  I was just happy to get Emery’s hair brushed and keep their clothes somewhat clean until we left the house.  I even had to do the “Mom clean up” (lick my thumb and wipe peanut butter off their face) once we got to school!

We should get individual pictures and a class picture.  I didn’t realize they did all this stuff in preschool!  They’re growing up way too fast!

Pulling up!

This afternoon, Ethan pulled up for the first time and I happened to have the camera nearby!  He’s been pulling up on his knees for quiet a while, but hasn’t been able to get his feet underneath him.

As you can tell, Gavin didn’t get what the big fuss was about.

Twin Moms’ Trip 2010: Peace, Love, and Twins

Last weekend I had my first weekend away since Gavin and Emery were born!  Even better, it was with 4 other awesome twin moms. 

We met in San Antonio last Thursday night and had 4 relaxing days of uninterrupted conversation, 3 hour meals, and lots and lots of shopping! 

Thursday night we talked over great Mexican food (and a very LOUD mariachi band)!

Hannah (2.5 year old b/g twins), Amy (2 year old g/g twins), Me, Liz (19 month old g/g twins), and Britni (2 year old g/g  twins)

The next morning, we started the day with Starbucks

and pedicures…….

Then shopping, shopping, and more shopping!

 

Of course we had to stop at Target!

On Saturday, we drew lots of attention.  Maybe because of our awesome shirts……

Or it could have been our behavior……

  First stop of the day…….of course, Starbucks!

Then, we visited the Alamo…..   

Had a very leisurely lunch…..

Then, leisurely appetizer and drinks.

No kids’ menus, no high chairs, and no rushing to pay the bill before meltdowns!  :-)  In fact, we just wandered around on our own schedule, following Britni who guided us with her faithful iphone.

Saturday night, we got dressed up…..

and went to see Jersey Boys at the Majestic Theater.

The theater was awesome and the show was great.  Especially our front row seats!  Ok, just kidding.  We were actually 2nd row from the very top.  :-) 

We stayed up late Saturday night, sad that the trip was coming to an end.  On Sunday morning, Hannah was the first to hit the road.  Our group continued to shrink as Britni headed out after lunch.  Amy, Liz, and I were on the same flight back to Dallas, so we got to save our good-byes for the DFW airport.

What a fun weekend and a great group of friends.  It was better than I ever expected and I can’t wait until next year!  

Teeth!

 

Finally, Ethan has teeth!  The two on the bottom came in at the same time. 

 

Emery found out the hard way today when she stuck her fingers in his mouth.  :-)

Potty Breaks

 

I was running errands with Ethan yesterday while Gavin and Emery were in preschool and something occurred to me.  With one baby (vs. 3 kids), I can go to the bathroom ANYTIME AND ANYWHERE I WANT TO!  Well, within reason of course.  This is huge!  For the last 3+ years, bathroom stops have not been a simple process.  When Gavin and Emery were babies, I could tell you exactly which places had bathroom stalls big enough to accommodate the double stroller.  If I was at a place where the stroller just wouldn’t fit, I’d be forced to leave the stall door open with the stroller half in and half out.  Oh yes…..I did do this many times!  If we were using the side by side stroller instead of the tandem (one in front of the other), I could just forget finding a bathroom where we would all fit! 

Now that I have 3 kids (1 in the stroller & 2 walking, 1 potty trained & 1 “in training”), I’ve just stopped drinking all liquids.   Bathroom breaks are just out of the question.  Don’t get me wrong, we make plenty of quick trips when Emery needs to go “right now”, but I’m not adding my own bathroom breaks to the craziness.

So, my plan for next week is to drive around drinking whatever I want and taking as many potty breaks as I need to.  Here is a tentative agenda for Tuesday during preschool hours:

1) Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Latte (Venti)

2) Sonic Large Diet Limeade

3) Panera Large Iced Tea

I can’t wait!  :-)

Playing in the Rain

Sometimes you just need to play in the pouring rain……

 

 

It was raining so hard that they could barely open their eyes.  I’m sure the neighbors were watching and will soon be nominating me for the Mother of the Year award.  :-)  There was no thunder or lightening, so I let them have fun!

p.s.  Yes, Emery did dress herself today.  :-)  Gotta love the pink plaid pants/ red shirt/ rain boots look!
