(I had forgotten to tell Pete that I decided to go with the REAL name for body parts. Needless to say, he was shocked.)

"Mommy, I have a Deuce Bigalow". Pete taught them this one. I DO NOT approve and am trying desperately to break them of this before they start preschool in the fall!

First Gymnastics Class
I just realized that I wrote this in March, but never posted it! Gym class is now over, but we are planning to enroll Emery in another class. Emery LOVED it. Gavin had moments of love, moments of hate, and lots of moments rolling around on the ground throwing a fit. :-) Seriously though, it was great for improving his coordination and balance. I just don't think it's his "thing". On the other hand, Emery might be our little gymnast!

Last Saturday, we attended a free trial glass at the Little Gym. The kids LOVED it and we are now enrolled in classes through the end of May. This is the first structured class that they have been a part of and they really seemed to like it. Gavin did lots of running around like a wild man trying everything out. He had very little interest in actually learning the skills, but he loved the parachute and bubbles. Emery wanted to learn and then practice, practice, practice. I really think this will be a good outlet for her. She loves the teacher, Ms. Lea, and also liked the dancing music. As you can probably tell, this isn't a hardcore gymnastics class. It's more like some gymnastics mixed with a bunch of other age appropriate fun stuff. The parents are involved until they turn 3 and then the kids are on their own while we (the parents) drink coffee in the lobby and watch while playing with our iphones. :-) The picture quality is awful because I took still shots from videos taken with my phone.......but you'll get the idea...........

Did Somebody Call a Plumber?
Earlier this week, Gavin opened up the cabinet doors under the laundry room sink, stuck his head inside and said "I see what the problem is!" Then, he ran to his work bench to get the right tools for the job.
Soon, his assistant had arrived and they started the repair (beating the pipes as hard as they could with a hammer).......
Since that didn't seem to work (even with the awesome safety goggles), they pulled out the power tools......
That did it! Another job well done!
Why do I feel like Gavin is going to be one of those kids who takes everything apart and tries to put it back together?? :-)

The Egg
I’ve been watching cardinals build a nest in our rose bush. Yesterday, I checked the nest and found an egg! So, I held the kids up to take a quick look.
Emery- “I want to hold it”.
Me- “No, we can’t touch the egg. Just look at it.”
Emery- “I’ll just touch it with one finger.”
Me- “No, if we touch it, then the mommy bird won’t come back to the nest. The mommy bird will sit on the egg to keep it warm until it hatches and there will be a baby bird.”
Emery- “I want to hold it and see the baby bird. Please please puleeeeze.”
Me- “It will be a long time before the baby bird is here. We have to stay away from the nest or the mommy will be scared and won’t come back to keep the egg warm.”
Emery (holding up her blanket)- “I can do it mommy. I’ll use my blanket!”
Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the cardinal come back to the nest, nor did I see her when we were outside yesterday morning (so I don’t think we chased her off). Looks like it may be an abandoned egg. Maybe I should let Emery give the blanket a try……..

Cinco de Mayo x 5
Cinco de Mayo 2010 means that Pete and I got engaged exactly 5 years ago! He proposed at the top of one of the biggest climbs at our favorite local mountain bike trail. 2 weeks after that, we moved to Indiana and we were married in Colorado 4 months later.
Doesn't he look like he's thinking "What the heck did I just do??" haha If he only knew then what the next five years had in store!
So from 5/5/05........to a family of 5! It's been quite a ride so far!
Pete's Proudest Moment
Most of my family has seen this, but I felt like I would be depriving Pete's family if I didn't post it. Sorry Gavin, but I had to do it. ;-)
FYI- There was no persuasion or coaxing Gavin into the princess outfit. He saw Emery having fun as a princess and I guess he just wanted in on the action.

This big guy is already 4 1/2 months old. Here are the stats from his 4 month checkup:
Weight: 17 lbs. 4 oz.
Height: 25 1/2"
He's now closer to the 75th percentile instead of the 95th, but he's still a big kid and is learning to be tough! Just before Emery's nap today, I caught her riding him like a horse (yes, I flipped out just a little bit).

He's teething already, as you can probably tell by the drool in this picture.
He's just starting to babble.....mostly da-da-da's, and is rolling from his back to his tummy like a champ (rolled from his stomach to his back once so far). He's just a happy go lucky kid and is growing up way to fast!

Gender Bending Randomness
What do you do when your 2 1/2 year old son BEGS to have his toenails painted just like his sister??
Our little Adam Lambert (haha).......
At least he chose blue (and yes, he does have huge feet).
I found a few pairs of BabyLegs on sale for less than $2.00 each (regularly $12.00), so I thought I'd try them out......
I think they're cute, but Pete hates them. Just wait until he wears the purple camouflage pair!
On Sunday, Pete didn't have to go into work (yay), so we hung out around the house. Pete went grocery shopping. Then I mowed the yard while Pete was inside with the kids making meatloaf. Then I finished out the day with mountain biking and a trip to Hooters with our friend Bill. How's that for role reversal!
This is Bill in front of the awesome hot air balloon that completely freaked us out during our ride. We were on the trail back in the woods behind the balloon when we suddenly heard a LOUD noise that sort of sounded like a explosion. When we came out of the woods, we had to stop and check it out. Very cool. The kids would have loved it!
