New foods, new faces

Yesterday we tried watermelon (completely new to them) and cantaloupe (had not tried in a very long time). Here is the verdict......

Not a big fan, but he continued to give it a try.

Kind of hard to see, but his lips are puckered.....like we fed him a Sour Patch Kid or something.

Emery loved it and couldn't get enough!

Matching Outfits

Thought I'd post a few pictures in their new matching outfits. I have had a VERY hard time finding matching boy/girl outfits. So, if you find any (18-24 mo.), please let me know. I don't buy many clothes, but I will sometimes splurge for a cute matching outfit. By the way, Pete thinks Gavin's shorts are a little "fruity" for his boy. Emery wore pink camo very often during the winter (matching Gap sweatshirts), so this is only fair.

I think it's funny that Gavin is looking straight ahead smiling, but trying a sneak attack to pull Emery's hair.

Helping us to unroll the rug. As you may know, our house is for sale. Every time we have a showing the playroom is transformed into a living room. Thus, the IKEA rug that you see in the picture.......And just for the record, this"transformation" is a total pain and we need to sell our house soon!
A little freedom while the playroom is put back together. Sorry, it's been hard to get a picture from the front lately. They are pretty quick!

Just thinking back on last summer.......

One year ago, so about a month before the babies were born (I was about 33 weeks along)........

Here I am 2 weeks later. I think it was becoming harder to muster up a smile for the pictures. :-)

And the night before delivery day! I obviously didn't have a lot of clothing choices at this point (same outfit in every picture).

It's been an eventful year!

Getting Tickled

I wasn't planning to post these because it looks like I'm torturing him, but Pete talked me into it. Make sure your sound is turned on. He usually laughs even harder than this, but was distracted by the camera. I was obviously home alone while taking the video.

A few recent pictures

Just a few random pictures from the last 2 weeks........

I walked in and found him like this. Now I've had to rethink what toys I have in the playroom......and if they can be pushed over to the gate for climbing.

I'm constantly trying to get her hair out of her eyes. She won't leave a bow in her hair, so this is the alternative. She actually left this in for an hour or so. Unfortunately, when Gavin saw it, he laughed and grabbed for it immediately.

First Haircut- Part One

As you have probably noticed from other pictures, Gavin's hair has been falling into his eyes for a while now. So, we decided that it is time for his first haircut. I called this "Part One", because it is really only 1/2 of a haircut. The other 1/2 will be completed at a later date (TBD). Pete had the great (not really) idea of using the clippers on the longest setting to give Gavin a long, even haircut. Rather than test it out on the back of his head, we started at the front on top. The clippers took off some nice chunks, but that was about it. Apparently, clippers don't work well on fine, baby hair. So, then we brought in the scissors to try to correct the damage. Pete tried to cut his hair after wetting it while in the bathtub. A few cuts were made, but we abandoned this plan for safety reasons. So, here we go.......Before and After pictures.........

Now, we aren't even sure how to fix it. So, for now the poor kid looks like he's got a bad wig. Sometimes, if you comb it just the right way, it almost looks normal.

By the way, when I questioned Pete's technique, he said that he knows how to cut hair from watching his mom while growing up (no offense, Penny). He said that he always went last, so that his mom was well practiced by the time she got to him (he's got three brothers). Gavin had no choice, but to go first. I guess that was the problem. :-)

A Sippy Cup Moment

A couple of people have asked if the babies are using sippy cups yet, so I thought I'd share a sippy cup moment. Pretty soon we'll be moving on from bottles......Our dishwasher will appreciate the break!

The Children's Museum

We had a great time on Father's Day at the Indianapolis Children's Museum. Gavin and Emery were worn out by the time we left. You can really tell in the picture of Emery and I on the carousel. Gavin took a fall in the tunnel and busted his lip and Emery now has a cold, but overall it was a really good day!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!

Rather than write a bunch of great stuff about Pete, I thought I'd put together some pictures from his 10 1/2 months of fatherhood (see the slide show below this post). I think the pictures speak for themselves. Pete is a GREAT Dad!

I love this picture. Pete finally got his Corvette insured and registered and was taking it out for a spin while Gavin watched from the window. Pete didn't know that I took this. I gave it to him for Father's Day.

Rock Climbing Wall

I think we have a couple of climbers. I went upstairs yesterday to put something away and it became oddly quite in the playroom. This is what I found when I got back. The box was standing on it's end, but they flipped it over to make a rock climbing wall.

Gavin was sliding back down by the time I got the camera.

It's hard to tell how steep this was from these pictures.

A little bit of video

I got nervous and stopped taking the video, but afterwards, the climbing continued. This is after they crushed the box, so it wasn't quite as steep anymore.

Bonus pic: This is before the box was knocked over. Emery crawled ALL the way into it and got stuck.

Oh Poop!

Warning: If you don't like hearing about baby poop, you might not want to read this.

Gavin woke up a little early from his morning nap, so I put him in the jumperoo for a few minutes while I finished up with some things. I heard Emery waking up and was on my way up to get her, when I looked over at Gavin. Hmmmmm, that's weird......why does he have poop on his leg? THEN I saw the carpet below him. Holy cow (or insert other appropriate word)! I just froze, trying to figure out what to do next. After taking a picture (of course), I ran up to get Emery and put her in a safe place while I took care of Gavin. In the mean time Gavin was still bouncing in poop. I decided that a kitchen sink bath was too gross, so I layed out a mat on the floor and started the cleanup process from head to toe......between his toes and even under his toenails! Ok.....now he's clean. How the heck do I clean the carpet? I started looking through all of the carpet cleaner in the cabinet. Not sure what I was looking for. It all says "removes coffee, wine, pet stains, etc....". I never found any that specifically listed baby poop (haha), so I just picked one. I gave it a few tries with the spot cleaner and decided that I needed to drag out the carpet shampooer right away. I went upstairs and grabbed the inflatable duck bathtub that we no longer use, blew it up, and filled it with toys (sort of like the ball pit at Chuckee Cheese). This was an effort to keep the babies occupied so that I had time to use the carpet cleaner. Thank goodness, it was a HUGE hit and kept them busy for quite a while (especially Emery). Oh.....and then after all of this, I had to disassemble the jumperoo for poop removal. TONS of fun.

Also, we put our house on the market today, so the realtor stopped by to put the sign in the yard(more about that later)!!!! Nothing like leaving the buyers a little present, huh? So, for all of you who need a visual. Here you go..... Enjoy!

Backyard Pool Party

It was 90 degrees here today, which is VERY hot in Indiana (I know those are you in Texas are laughing). The humidity makes it feel much warmer than you would expect. We decided to have a little pool party in lieu of bathtime. This was the first time in our new, inflatable baby pool. The water was really cold, so it took some getting used to, but I think they both enjoyed it. Gavin was very interested in climbing over the side to collect grass and sticks. Emery liked crawling from side to side to harass Desi.
