A new swing set!
Pete came home with some free lumber a few months ago……lots of big, sturdy beams. So, as Gavin and Emery’s 3rd birthday approached, we thought it would be perfect to be used for a swing set! It’s not cedar, so it won’t last for 25 years, but I think 15 years or so should be just fine! Plus, after buying all of the accessories (swings, slide, rock climbing wall, etc…), we did it all for 1/4 of the price of store models, which probably aren’t even as sturdy. According to Pete, “we’ll be able to lift engines with this thing”. Um…..ok, but we’re not going to. :-)
So, here is a sneak peek. The rest will be unveiled when it’s complete.
This picture was taken at about 7:00pm. It was still SO HOT outside, that the kids only wanted to swing for 2 minutes. When we drove home from dinner at 6:30, my car showed an outside temperature reading of 105. And you can see our lovely green grass in the picture. Fortunately, the rest of the yard isn’t quite this brown, but it could be by the end of the week. It’s suppose to be 106 today.
Anyway, back to the swing set…….
Kids, if you’re reading this 20 years from now (which means I FINALLY put it into a blog book), look around at all the stuff your Dad built for you. You are very lucky to have a talented Dad who really takes pride in making stuff for you to enjoy!
