Two reasons our diaper bill is going up

Reason # 1: We are expecting baby #3 in December! I'll be 18 weeks along on Saturday and we've got an ultrasound scheduled in a couple of weeks when we'll find out the sex. It was somewhat of a surprise so I had an ultrasound early on also to find out how far along I was. So far everything is going well, but it is way harder than I anticipated to be pregnant while chasing two toddlers! I'll post more about it soon. Just wanted to share the news!

Reason # 2: Emery now loves to change her baby's diaper. First, she looks down the back of the diaper to check for poop. Of course the baby ALWAYS has a dirty diaper, so she has to change it. Since the diaper the baby was wearing is "dirty", she has to get a clean diaper. She'll go through a stack of diapers if I let her. I've tried to trick her into reusing a diaper, but it usually doesn't work. She lets me help her to lay the baby on the diaper, but she insists on doing the rest herself.

In case you're wondering.......of course we use the "dirty" baby diapers on the kids afterwards. Sometimes the velcro is a little worn out by then, but we don't waste diapers! Pete has even asked if we can lay the swim diapers out to dry and reuse them (they are expensive!). I vetoed that one...... :-)

Congrats! Exciting about baby #3! As for swim diapers, I read on an environmentally frindly site a few weeks ago, that a good rinse and then laid out to dry, they can be reused, atleast a few times. I tried it this week and by god, it worked! We don't usually wear them for long and I wouldn't do it for a "dirty" diaper, but hey, worth a shot!

Congrats! Wow you will have your hands full! I remember being exhausted when I was pregnant and I was not chasing toddlers around! Good luck!

Congratulations! This is exciting news!

On the diaper front, I bought a pack of generic newborn diapers for my boys to diaper their babies. It was about $5 for a pack of 30 and kept them entertained for a long long time!

Oh WOW! Congratulations on #3!!

Dito what Laura said on the diapers. Our boys would wear out the velcro, so it was really hard to re-use them after "baby" needing constant diaper changes. Now "baby" has his/her own set of diapers. :)

Again, congrats! Can't wait to read about the journey!
