Toddlers For Sale- Buy One Get One Free

I was feeling like a semi-good mom yesterday morning when I spent 15 minutes taping together Gavin's racetrack with packing tape in hopes to minimize the tantrums because the stupid thing won't stay together. And how does he repay me???

Luckily this was only chalk. Day before yesterday it was an ink pen all over the kitchen walls.

During their nap, I was also feeling a sense of accomplishment while I dusted the living room and cleaned several bathrooms (things neglected while I was pregnant). They woke up as I was finishing the cleaning. After dumping all of the shoes out of the shoe rack in my closet, I heard LOTS of screaming and laughing in the living room. It seemed harmless so I ignored it for a few minutes. Here is what I found..... (packing material from the stuffed chair that you see in the picture)

Just after this picture was taken, Emery pointed to her nose and said "Get it out!" Yep, she had shoved one of those things up her nose! Luckily, we've been practicing blowing her nose, so I asked her to blow and it flew out across the room (thankfully!). We've also been working on getting dressed every day and KEEPING clothes on. As you can see in the picture, so far we haven't had much success.

I'm still wondering if I'll survive two toddlers and a newborn. It's pretty apparent that my house may not survive.

By the way, I get asked often if one newborn is WAY easier than two. Yes.....it's WAY easier. Add two 2 year olds to one newborn and the difficulty rating goes up a bit.

Wish me luck that today is a better and less destructive day.

Oh Shelley!! Hang in there! I'm glad you took pics... it'll be funny a few months from now. :)

Love the pics but have totally been there. We used to put all pens, crayons, pencils, chalk in a basket on top of the fridge so it was easy to access but out of the way of little fingers.

Sorry Shelley, seems like they have inherited another family trait--putting things up their noses. Their Uncle Tim at about age 2 was taken to the hospital to remove peas and carrots that his older brothers encouraged him to put up his nose. Their dad was also spent a night in the hospital to be put under to have an pencil eraser pulled out of his ear. (We couldn't keep him still enough in the doctor's office to take it out.) When he was about 8 and into fixing his bicycle, we made a visit to the specialist to find out why he was getting nosebleeds, etc.--the doctor pulled out stuffing from his bike seat that somehow was in his nose so long that it was attaching itself to the lining of his nose.

What can I say.... at least Emery blew hers out.
