What we're up to......

Time to take a break from eating bonbons and filing my nails, so that I can update this blog after 3 weeks away! Of course I'm joking. We've been super duper busy around here. What have we done since you last heard from me?

-We celebrated Easter with Pete's mom (visiting from Pennsylvania), as well as all of the Texas grandparents. The kids were spoiled. We all ate way too much sugar and had a great time.

- The kids and I took a trip to my mom's house for a few days and we visited Dinosaur Valley State Park, which is about 45 minutes away and the site of many dinosaur tracks. We bought a new state park pass (so that we can get into all Texas state parks at no charge), drove around looking at the life size dinosaur replicas, and waded/fell into the river. Next time we'll be taking swimsuits and possibly life jackets.

- We did our taxes. Short sentence, big task.

- I took on the role of Vice President of my Twin's Club, as if I needed more on my plate. :-)

- We purchased a new bedroom suit for the master bedroom. This is the first time that Pete and I have ever owned a "real" bed, like with a headboard and footboard. Pete made the comment that it now looks like an adult bedroom. Well......except for the baby crib.

- We literally rearranged every room in the house, something I've been thinking about for months and finally decided it was time to do. All toys have been moved out of the playroom and into Gavin and Emery's individual bedrooms and closets. One race car bed was disassembled and moved out of Gavin's room to make room for racetracks and trains. The playroom will become Ethan's bedroom until he's old enough to share a room with Gavin. We still have a lot more to do, but it's a good start.

- Pete has gotten several promotions at work, which is awesome. The most recent promotion has brought with it a TON of responsibility and extra hours. He's working non-stop, including weekends, and gets calls all night long (ie: 2am) when he's not at work. We are grateful that he has a job, especially one where he can put his skills and experience to work, but it has been exhausting for all of us. So, we are making adjustments and trying to get used to the new schedule.

- I attended a Women's Fitness Retreat. I spent the day kayaking, rock climbing (on a wall....not real rocks), kickboxing, learning to shoot a bow and arrow, and taking various other fitness classes. Lots of fun, but I was sore for a full week. I'm signed up for another retreat in October. Hopefully I'll be in better shape by then!

- I attended the Texas Mother's of Multiples convention. Well, I BRIEFLY attended in between Pete's weekend work schedule. This is a group of women from all over Texas who have twins, triplets, quadruplets, etc..... Many of the women have been going to the convention for 20 years and have twins who are teenagers or older. It was an interesting group and it was good to have an evening to relax.......but I'm way too old to drive home at midnight. ugh

- We've begun potty training with some minor success. More about that in a later post.

- We took Ethan for his 4 month checkup. Stats in a later post. He's still a BIG kid!

- Finally (and most time consuming), we've been dealing with some MAJOR discipline issues. I feel sure that at least part of the issue is jealousy. Even though they are usually great with Ethan, it has definitely split my time even more and taken some of the attention away from Gavin and Emery. The obvious solution is to spend more individual time with each child, but where do I find this time?? We are working on this. My mom has been up to help. We are taking it ONE. DAY. AT. A. TIME.

So, there you have it. The month of April in a nutshell......and I feel like a nutcase. :-)

It does sound busy. I'm certainly worrying about the jealousy factor when Spyder makes her appearance in a month!
